Sawyer Strosnider
Scouting Report
A draft eligible sophmore, Strosnider broke out his freshman year at TCU, hitting .350 with a 1.070 OPS and an ample amount of extra base hits. He's quickly established himself as one of the more toolshed players in all of college baseball.
Strosnider is one of the twitchier players in the class and it's extremely obvious watching him on the field. At the plate it lightning-quick bat speed, with exit velocities that few in the class can compete with. Strosnider has at times struggled with pulling the ball in the air often, so there's the potential for him to grow into even more power should he improve in that regard. Strosnider's hit tool is solid, but he does come with some swing-and-miss in his game, and critics will point to the fact that he hit just a shade over .270 in his draft-eligible year. He's got an aggressive approach especially towards breaking balls below the zone, though he tends to get on base plenty and gets pitched around frequently in college.
Strosnider has a chance to play center field at the next level. It's plus arm strength and plus speed, athletic traits that could help him to grow into an above average defender at the position. With the trajectory he is on, Strosnider has the tools to land inside the top 20 picks. He'll be just 21.0 on draft day.
